We here the question often, what causes premature aging? Genetics plays a central role, sure. However, genetics is not everything when it comes to the process of aging. Exciting new research has shed light on the role that oxidative stress, brought on by dangerous free radicals, plays in the process of aging. Free radical are molecules that are missing an electron and they go about your body literally taking electrons from cells and tissues whenever possible. Free radicals are literally damaging your cells on a sustained daily basis, through the process of oxidative stress.

Antioxidants work to prevent oxidation from occurring and protect your body from these dangerous free radicals. They do so by acting as a electron donors While free radicals scavenge their way about your body looking steal electrons, antioxidants donate an electron and protect your body in the process. This is one of the reasons people feel so good when they eat antioxidant rich foods.
